Terms of use

Version 2026-10-20.2

Last updated: 2026-10-20.2

These terms govern use of Sigil at https://www.signwithsigil.com (the "Service"), operated by Darklight Interactive ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them.

1. The Service

Sigil lets you upload documents, mark where people should sign by typing glyphs (short text codes) or placing fields on the page, send them to recipients for electronic signature, and receive signed copies with a certificate of completion. We may change or add features at any time; if a change removes something material from a paid plan, we will tell you before it takes effect.

2. Accounts

You must be at least 18 and provide accurate information. You are responsible for everything done with your account and your API keys, so keep your password and keys private and tell us at info@signwithsigil.com if you think either has been compromised. One person may not hold multiple free accounts to avoid plan limits.

3. Your documents

You keep every right to the documents you upload. You grant us only the licence needed to store them, convert them, render them for signers, stamp signatures onto them and deliver the result to the recipients you choose. You are responsible for having the right to send each document to each recipient and for the document's contents.

4. Acceptable use

Do not use the Service to send unlawful, fraudulent, defamatory or infringing material; to impersonate anyone; to send unsolicited bulk mail; to collect signatures by deception; or to probe or overload the Service. Do not attempt to access another account's documents. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules.

5. Electronic signatures

Signatures collected through the Service are electronic signatures. Each signer is asked to consent to doing business electronically before signing, and the certificate of completion records who signed, when and from where. Many laws, including the United States ESIGN Act and the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act, treat such signatures as equivalent to handwritten ones, but some kinds of document are excluded and requirements vary by jurisdiction. You are responsible for deciding whether an electronic signature is legally sufficient for your document and your situation. We do not give legal advice.

6. Plans, documents, billing and cancellation

Each plan includes a number of documents each calendar month, shown on the pricing page. Sending a pact uses one document for every three signers, rounded up (one to three signers use one document, four to six use two, and so on); recipients who only receive a copy are free. A document is used when the pact is sent and is not returned if the pact is later voided, declined or lapses; sending a new signing link for the same pact is free. The monthly allowance resets on the first day of each calendar month (UTC), and unused documents do not carry over.

You can also buy document packs. Pack documents are used only after the month's allowance runs out, do not expire while your account is open, and are not refundable once bought.

Paid plans are billed monthly or yearly in advance through Stripe, renew automatically, and can be changed or cancelled at any time from your billing page. A change of plan takes effect straight away, with any difference in price prorated by Stripe; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and no partial refunds are given. Prices may change with at least 30 days' notice by email. If a payment fails we may limit your account to free-plan features until it succeeds. Taxes are added where required.

7. Custom domains

Some plans include custom domains, and any plan can add more for a monthly fee per domain. If you bind a domain to your account you confirm that you control it and that its use with the Service does not infringe anyone's rights. If your plan changes or a domain add-on ends so that you have more domains than your plan and add-ons allow, the most recently added domains are switched off until you add slots or remove domains. We may remove a domain that is misused or whose verification record disappears.

8. API and MCP access

Any account can create API keys, but the API and the MCP server can be used only on plans that include them (shown on the pricing page). API keys and the MCP server are provided for use with your own account. Keep keys confidential, do not share one key between unrelated systems, and respect any rate limits we publish. We may change the API with reasonable notice and may retire old versions.

9. Availability and data

We work to keep the Service available and to back up its data, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. You should keep your own copies of signed documents and certificates; the Service emails them to you and lets you download them, and we encourage you to do so.

10. Termination

You may close your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate an account for breach of these terms, for non-payment, or if the law requires it. After closure we may delete your documents; download what you need first.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, data or business, arising from the Service, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

13. Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify us against claims arising from the documents you send, your use of the Service in breach of these terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Florida.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do, and account holders are shown the new version at their next login. Continued use after that is acceptance.
